CS2 Fade Percentages Explained: What a Full Fade Really Means

By CaseBattles•8/27/2026•6 min read

Fade is one of the most loved finishes in Counter-Strike, a smooth sweep of yellow into pink, purple and magenta. But like Case Hardened, not all Fades are equal. Two copies of the same Fade skin, in the same wear, can sell for very different amounts, and the number that explains why is the Fade percentage.

What a Fade Percentage Is

A Fade skin is generated from a paint seed that decides how far the color gradient is shifted across the weapon. The community turned that into a simple grade: the Fade percentage, which measures how much full-spectrum color covers the skin. Most Fades land somewhere between roughly 80% and 100%, and higher almost always means more desirable.

Why 100% Is the Grail

A 100% Fade shows the complete color range with the maximum sweep, which usually means the most vivid pink and purple on the parts of the model people care about. As the percentage drops toward 80%, more of the blade or slide stays plain yellow or gold, which most collectors find less striking. The closer to 100%, the higher the premium, and full Fades carry a clear price bump over average copies.

It Is Not Just the Number

Percentage is the headline, but placement matters too. On some weapons, buyers specifically want the pink and purple concentrated on a particular area, so two skins at the same percentage can still differ in desirability based on where the color actually sits. This is why traders inspect a Fade rather than trusting the number blindly.

Which Weapons Care Most

Fade shows up across the game, but the percentage premium is biggest where the finish is a signature look:

  • Knives like the Fade Karambit and Fade Bayonet, where a 100% Fade is a genuine grail.
  • Glock-18 | Fade, one of the most iconic pistol skins, where full Fades command a strong premium.
  • MAC-10, R8 and Nova Fades, cheaper entries where the percentage still moves the price.

Fade vs Wear

Here is a handy quirk: most Fade skins have a capped, low float range, so they only exist in cleaner wears like Factory New and Minimal Wear. That means wear matters less on Fades than on most skins, and the Fade percentage does the heavy lifting on value instead.

How to Check a Fade Before You Buy

Use a Fade checker that reads the inspect link, or inspect the skin in-game and eyeball the color spread. On our skin shop you can see each Fade before you withdraw it, and any Fade you unbox in a case or case battle comes with its pattern baked into the provably-fair result.

Bottom Line

Fade percentage is the number that separates a nice skin from a grail. Aim for high percentages, check where the color actually falls, and remember that most Fades are already clean-wear by design. Do that and you will never overpay for an 80% while thinking it is a full Fade. Ready to chase one? Upgrade toward a Fade or open a case and check what you land.
